About Kinsey Morgan, LPC-MHSP
With over 8 years of experience in private practice, I specialize in helping individuals work through trauma, manage mood disorders, and navigate life's most difficult transitions. My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, but it's also deeply personal—because I understand firsthand how transformative the right therapeutic relationship can be.
"Most people who get into this field have a reason for it. My reason started in high school when I sought counseling for bullying and family struggles. The therapist I worked with was phenomenal, and that experience ignited my passion for this work."
I come from a strength-based approach—you already have inherent strengths within you. Together, we'll find them and put them to use.
Specializations & Services
EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is my preferred method for working with trauma clients. Think of traumatic memories like overly bright movie posters—they're painful to look at and can be blinding every time you encounter them. EMDR works like a dimmer switch, turning down the brightness so you can examine these memories without living in the hurt every day.
"The goal is to turn down the brightness of the impact of those memories so we can look at them, examine them, walk through them emotionally—and not have to live in them every day."
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works like a laser, focusing directly on the unprocessed emotions tied to your memories, which often means faster, more effective healing.
Trauma-Focused Therapy
I work with clients experiencing various types of trauma, including:
Childhood trauma
Workplace trauma
Natural disasters
Grief and loss
Complex PTSD
Trauma can create triggers that impact your daily functioning, relationships, and sense of safety. My goal is to help you process these experiences so they no longer control your present.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an evidence-based approach that examines the connection between your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. It's particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and behavioral patterns that keep you feeling stuck.
Inner Child Work & Somatic Therapy
Sometimes we need to reparent ourselves—not just from abusive situations, but because "parents are still people, and they can't always meet every single need." We carry messages from childhood into adulthood that impact how we relate to ourselves and others.
Through inner child work and somatic therapy, you'll learn to:
Calm and regulate yourself
Sit with difficult emotions instead of intellectualizing around them
Process emotions that your body has been holding onto
"In our culture, especially in the US, we really love to intellectualize our way around things instead of feeling our way through something. Sometimes that pattern keeps people in therapy longer than they need to be."
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT helps get to the root cause of recurring patterns. Rather than talking around emotions, we move through them—because that's often the fastest path to lasting change.
Workplace Stress & Professional Boundaries
In the past few years, I've seen a significant increase in workplace trauma. If you're struggling with:
Work-life balance
Holding boundaries with supervisors or colleagues
Job-related stress impacting your personal life
Navigating hybrid work or return-to-office transitions
Processing difficult workplace relationships
You're not alone, and therapy can help. We spend the majority of our time at work—when that environment isn't healthy, it impacts everything else.
"Most of my clients put off therapy until their functioning is inhibited. A lot of the time, it's these obstacles of 'I need to keep this job, I need to do what I'm hired to do, but I'm struggling with boundaries and it's robbing me of life satisfaction.'"
Mood Disorders
Whether you're experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mood-related challenges, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care to help you regain stability and find joy in your daily life again.
Why Arise Counseling Services?
Individual Focus, Systemic Change
I work with individuals, not couples—but here's the beautiful part: when you change one part of a system, the whole system has to shift.
"If something is breaking down, let's understand our own role in it. Let's show up differently and see how that changes the system. If you're able to regulate yourself, if your fights with a spouse have been escalated—what could happen if your role in that shifted?"
Sometimes the work reveals that boundaries need to be set. Sometimes it shows that when you change, relationships naturally improve. Either way, you'll gain clarity.
Ethical, Transparent Approach
I don't accept insurance, which allows me to:
Avoid diagnostic labels that might not fit your situation
Protect your privacy
Focus fully on your care rather than paperwork
During our initial phone call, I'm upfront about costs. If my services don't fit your financial situation, I'll connect you with resources that do—because everyone deserves access to quality mental health care.
Safe, Confidential Space
Therapy provides something HR departments can't: a truly safe place to process workplace issues, family dynamics, and personal struggles without fear of consequences or judgment. What you share here stays here.
Who I Work With
I welcome clients dealing with:
Trauma of any kind (childhood, workplace, accidents, natural disasters)
Grief and loss
Depression and anxiety
Work-related stress and burnout
Life transitions (career changes, relationship shifts, family dynamics)
Adults seeking to heal childhood wounds
Anyone feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life they want
"If you were really honest with yourself, there's probably at least one area of your life you'd want to shift in some way—whether it's expressing yourself effectively, increasing intimacy in your marriage, or improving your relationship with your children as they grow."
Getting Started Is Simple
Step 1: Make that first phone call to 615-461-5840 (yes, it's the hardest one)
Step 2: We'll discuss what you're experiencing and whether we're a good fit
Step 3: Schedule your first session and begin your journey
"That phone call is the hardest phone call most people have to make. But on the other end of it is usually a therapist that is really ready and willing to work with somebody."

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance, which allows me to provide focused, personalized care without the constraints of insurance requirements. I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
How long does therapy take?
This varies by individual and the approach we use. EMDR often works more quickly than traditional talk therapy. We'll discuss your goals and create a plan that works for you.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, with very limited legal exceptions (risk of harm to self or others, child/elder abuse, or court order). Your privacy is paramount.
What if I can't afford your services?
During our initial call, if cost is a barrier, I'll connect you with sliding scale resources and therapists who can meet your financial needs.
